I'm Mel, a dedicated counsellor and hypnotherapist with a passion for helping individuals to navigate their personal journeys toward well-being and self-discovery. I embrace a pluralistic and holistic approach, tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of my clients.

As a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and National Hypnotherapy Society, I adhere strictly to their ethical framework. Before becoming a therapist, I worked extensively in childcare settings, as well as caring for older adults and adults with learning disabilities. These experiences have enriched my understanding of the diverse challenges people face and have honed my ability to offer compassionate, individualised care to each of my clients.

The pluralistic approach may include various therapeutic techniques such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, or humanistic approaches, depending on the client’s needs.

pain. Clients remain in control throughout the entire session and cannot be made to

You’ll remain aware and in control the entire time—hypnosis is not like what you see in movies. It’s a natural state of mind, much like daydreaming, where you’re fully aware but deeply relaxed. My role is to guide you through this process in a safe and supportive environment, helping you achieve the goals we discuss together in a collaborative way.

The number of sessions needed varies depending on the individual and the nature of
the issues being addressed. Some people may find significant improvement in a few
sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. This will be discussed
during your initial consultation and continually assessed during the course of therapy.
To prepare for your first session, it's helpful to think about the issues you would like to
discuss and your goals for therapy. It’s perfectly okay if you don’t have everything
figured out, just having a general idea can be helpful. There is no need to bring
anything specific, just feel free to share your thoughts and feelings honestly. It’s
important that you feel comfortable and safe.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify me as soon as possible. I ask for a
minimum of 24 hours’ notice to avoid cancellation fees and to allow me to offer the
time slot to other clients.
Counselling primarily involves talking through issues and exploring emotional and
psychological processes. Hypnotherapy, on the other hand, involves using hypnosis
to access the subconscious mind and facilitate change. Both approaches can be
complementary, depending on the individual's needs.
